Danantara Indonesia Trust Provides Scholarships to More Than 500 Students from Low-Income Families

Addressing Barriers to Education and Career Readiness

Every young person in Indonesia deserves access to quality education and the opportunity to build an independent future. Yet, for many, access to quality education and preparation for the world of work remain significant challenges.

UNICEF estimates that around 4.1 million children and adolescents aged 7–18 are still out of school. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s 2025 National Labour Force Survey (Sakernas) found that 19.44% of young people aged 15–24 were not in education, employment, or training (NEET).

These figures highlight the need for sustained support. Beyond financial assistance for tuition, students also need guidance and opportunities to develop their skills, leadership, and confidence as they prepare to enter the workforce.

Scholarships and Career Development

To help address these challenges, Danantara Indonesia Trust (DIT) is partnering with the Karya Salemba Empat Foundation (KSE) to provide a three-year scholarship program built around three key areas:

• Three Years of Educational Support: Providing scholarships to more than 500 students from low-income families, helping them continue their studies at public universities across Indonesia.
• Personal and Leadership Development: Offering ongoing mentoring and training to help students strengthen their character, develop leadership skills, and build confidence.
• Preparing for the World of Work: Equipping students with relevant skills and experience to help them make a smoother transition from university to the workplace.
